New page

[[How to disable qmail vpopmail email user]]

Working in an environment where clients get hacked and accounts get used for spamming, I have had to more than once disabled email accounts.

All my servers run on Centos 6.* with Qmail and Vpopmail, using vmoduser we can disabled email accounts:

vmoduser -d -p -w -i username@domainname.com

The above command will disable accessibility to the sample email address username@domainname.com for pop3, imap and webmail access and will yet keep the email address existing on the vpopmail server and intact so the hacker can not recreate the account.
